CCAP support scientist (protozoology)

Expertise and work

  • Protozoa and algal maintenance
  • Isolation of protozoa and algae from wild cultures or mixed cultures
  • Molecular experience in DNA extractions, PCR’s and sequencing of Algae and Ciliates
  • Analysing sequences obtained for taxonomic revision and phylogeny
  • Cryopreservation of protists: Freezing and thawing of algae, amoebae and ciliates

 

I am the lab manager for the Culture Collection of Algae and Protozoa (CCAP), and the central point of contact. I provide assistance in the development of health and safety procedures and provide assistance and guidance in the laboratory when needed. I am a member of the Department of Microbial and Molecular Biology.
