profile

Programme Leader of SAMS UHI undergraduate degree programmes

My main scientific interest is in the biology and ecology of the intertidal area. I have travelled every single-track road on the west coast of Scotland to survey rocky shores monitoring the effects of climate change on organisms there and sandy beaches to study growth in juvenile flatfish.

My role as Programme Leader of our undergraduate degrees allows me to interact with our enthusiastic lecturers who are all research scientists and our enthusiastic students who aspire to be the same. It has been a privilege to take part in moving UHI from a gleam in someone's eye to the fully fledged university it is now.
