 My scientific interests encompass benthic mineralization processes with emphasis on carbon and nitrogen cycling in coastal and deep-sea sediments. I'm particularly interested in sediment-animal relations such as solute and particle transport induced by the macrofauna and the associated effects on the oxygen and pH dynamics in marine sediments.
I'm also very interested in the development and application of new and novel microsensor and in situ technology. My key skills are >10yrs of experience with advanced in situ benthic landers and microsensors (e.g. planar optodes and microelectrodes), extensive analytical capability and seagoing experience.
