Catering and domestic arrangements

The Scottish Marine Institute consists of two large, fully accessible buildings: The Sir John Murray Building - which includes the main reception - is focused on research and houses most staff and postgraduate research students, while the Sheina Marshall Building is an education facility hosting all our education courses. Lifts are available in both buildings.

Catering

Cafe / canteen facilities are available in both buildings where students, staff and visitors can access cold food and drinks at anytime of the site being open, and hot food over the lunchtime period. These are reasonably priced but not subsidized. There are microwaves available for warming up food.

Water dispensers are placed at various locations in both buildings.

Security information

Access to buildings and laboratories are controlled by security passes issues to students and staff upon induction. All visitors and new students must report to reception on arrival.

Opening hours

The laboratory is open from 0800 - 2115 Monday to Thursday, from 0800 - 1945 on Friday, and from 0900-1745 at weekends and during public holidays.

Transport

Parking is limited and students and staff are encouraged to use local transport, cycle or arrange for car sharing.
